He Minxuan is passionate about dedicating herself to education and delivery programs in order to arouse awareness of and involvement in environmental issues, particularly among the young generation. “I think each of us can play a role if we want to create a sustainable future,” she says. Her projects often focus on children or young people. In company with a group of BYEEs she developed, for example, a green kindergarten project that offers children a general idea of the relationship between human beings and nature via simple songs and games. Furthermore, together with a few other BYEEs she arranged for a river cleaning program to be carried out along with the release of a local river water quality report.

Since the trip to Sydney she has also worked as a facilitator in the Chinese Eco-Camp for three successive years, which has the goal of encouraging new envoys and eco-minds. In 2005 He Minxuan was elected President of the Student Union of East China Normal University. Since then, a large series of eco-activities have been carried out throughout the campus such as an environmentally friendly dormitory show, field trips and a waste-to-craftwork competition. About her commitment in the environmental field she says: “I would like to show young people that while progress has been made, there is still space left for us, and environmental protection can be fun and accessible. To my mind, sustainable development could become increasingly established on the Earth through shared efforts by young people.”
