Fourteen Bayer Young Environmental Envoys, selected from among 155 applicants from various universities in Indonesia, completed a 5-day Eco-Camp that strengthened their resolve to promote environmental protection. Bayer and its program partners the Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) organized the Eco-Camp that proved to be a memorable and valuable experience for all 14 envoys.

The envoys were enriched by various perspectives on climate change. In particular, they were moved by the presentation of the representative from the Ministry of Environment, who had the distinction of training under Al Gore. They also shared viewpoints with Indonesian environmentalists and environmental practitioners, such as the former Minister of Environment, the editor of National Geographic Indonesia, and officers of Wildlife Conservation Society and the Indonesian Institute of Sciences. In addition, the Eco-Camp was studded with team building sessions that helped the envoys to learn about their strengths and weaknesses, and the value of working together as a team.

The visit to the Bayer Consumer Care Plant in Cimanggis impressed the envoys, as did the zoology tour of the Eco-Park in West Java.

At the end of Eco-Camp, the 14 envoys will present the outcome of their implemented environmental projects in the final judging that will take place on the 14th of August. The four most deserving envoys will then be selected to represent Indonesia at the BYEE study tour of Germany in November.
